sbc to bbc swap questions

I am swapping in a big block to my 79 K10 truck. I have a couple of questions for you all.
Are the steel frame mounts the same?
Are the rubber motor mounts the same?
Also can it fit with tall valve covers and the stock brake booster?
These are just some I have now and I am sure I will have more.
Thanks, Brian

Yes, yes and probably. Stuffing a big block in a square is a piece of cake. Not 100% on tall valve covers though.

I thought steel engine stands small block to big block are different. Rubber mounts are definatley a different part #'s in LMC book.

Re: sbc to bbc swap questions

stands are the steel part of a motor mount which is attached to the block and the mounts are the rubber mount attached to the frame section

Re: sbc to bbc swap questions

Not the clam shells are the same between TRUCK SBC and BBC. The mounts for a big block are little heavier duty, but not required. I swapped a 468 in my old 78 Malibu and used the stock SBC mounts. If they are shot then replace, but if not don't worry about it.

Re: sbc to bbc swap questions

Oh that's right. I forgot the mount brackets that bolt to block. Those the same? Earlier I was talking about the mounts that bolt in to the frame that the rubber mounts bolt to.
What about running a fuel return line? Does it matter or not? Anything else? Thanks for the responses, Brian

Re: sbc to bbc swap questions

if it's there run it. If not then don't worry. I know the '54 in my crew had a return line, motor is from an 86. I want to say all motors have a return line, but don't work on them much anymore, loosing interest by the day it seems....

Re: sbc to bbc swap questions

Thanks for all the help guys. Sounds like just what I thought it was. Anyways 1 more if you don't mind. What headers are you guys running? I was thinking Hedman Elite. I like the shinny look and the ball/socket collector. Price isn't too bad either. Not sure how they would fit. They say they are for 79 K10 with manual. But... My main concern is is on the passenger side where the collector would end then having to bend the pipe real quick to get up over the trans crossmember. I had that problem with my small block. Not that it's a huge problem, I just don't want it to look goofy. Any thoughts?
