Hi Chevy folks

Picked up another AD style truck...title calls it a 1948 1 ton...got it from a kid in Giltner Nebraska...his last name was Rudy...hence the name Rudy Giltner...

Found it on a facebook page...bought it sight unseen..it was everything the kid said it was...I have had my share of vintage trucks and the worse thing about owning them is driving them...so I figured I would do something a little different...

So I found a 1984 C10 rolling chassis to put under the 1948 sheetmetal...

Had to assembly this crane so I could pull the cab off...

just before we pulled the cab off it was looking like this...

So the cab is now off the old chassis and sitting on the 1984 one as we speak...waiting for cab mounts from classic trucks...

Oh yeah...I also found a NV3500 5 speed...

Should be a fun built...we want a spare vehicle that we can both drive...hoping this one will fit the bill...

good start

dont cut the running boards, or the bed. there are guys out there looking for the 9 ft bed and running boards.

rudy ...that just sounds like a truck name...looks like a good solid truck...if you havnt already found out that c10 is going to be a little wide for the AD body..

Another clean NE pickup. Normally the stuff from the Central/Eastern part of the state isn't nearly as clean!

Had sometime waiting for parts....got the cab all lined up on the new chassis...

Side view....kinda boring but everything seems to be fitting...

From the behind the door....looks like the wheels will sit inside the fenders...so thats a good thing...

All cobbed up and sitting as I take measurements for cab mounts....

Cab mounts showed up on Monday from Classic Industries...took me until Wednesday to get them mounted up...

All nice in its new spot...

From the bottom side of things...hoping this cab swap will enable me to have a little better ride than the stock 1948 would ride...my last AD style truck rode like a hay wagon with stock cab mounts...this should ride a little better...

Next on the docket...from cab mounts...should be a little more interesting...

Interesting build! I thought the knock on swaps to full size, more modern truck chassis was that they were too wide?

How does the rear axle centerline line up (or not!) with the stock rear axle location?
