Russell Twist Lok Hose

I've been searching all over the internet but have not found anything that addresses this particular hose. My dad's LS-swapped 64 stinks up the garage with fuel odor. It's got a Gen IV 5.3 (returnless fuel rail), Boyd's Tank, Aeromotive pump, Corvette filter/regulator, and Russel Twist Lok synthetic rubber hose. I came across one thread from 2015 where the OP and a few other members come to the concensus that most fuel lines leak, with the exception of PTFE. The subject of that thread is braided line though, whereas Russel Twist Lok is synthetic rubber, no braid: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=691463

Has anyone else had this issue with this hose? I just bought the same hose with my fuel tank kit and am wondering if I wasted my money on that hose and if I should get PTFE hose and fittings or not. It's hard to believe that a synthetic rubber hose made in 2019 could leak. I am more inclined to believe that it's a tank venting issue or a fitting leaking.

Unless he can see puddles or "see" a leak ever so slight I'm also inclined to believe the later.

This is from a product page, but it deals with exactly what you are seeing.

"A two foot section of traditional rubber fuel hose loses one gallon of fuel per year through permeation. That’s up to one tank of fuel per year for a vehicle plumbed with 24’ of hose!"

I dont think it matters if its regular rubber or synthetic, if there is no vapor barrier it will do what your experiencing. The outside braid has no effect on leaking or vapor.

The other thing to consider is if any of the fuel you have used has had ethanol in it. If it has it will speed up the deterioration of the rubber hose unless it happens to be rated for ethanol.

I used this hose on mine, it was expensive but very nice.

I've got my system plumbed with aeromosive push lock hose from pump to fuel filter, to aluminum like, Then to the same aeromotive rubber to fuel rail. Tank vent to same rubber, to stock charcoal vent line and nothing on the end. No fuel odor noticed in the garage.

When I was researching my fuel line set up I read several people complaining about the hose giving off the smell of fuel. It was recommended to run as much hard line as possible and keep the rubber/braided hose to 3' maximum. I ended up running hard line down the frame rail with the braided from the rail to the frame and then from the tank over to the hard line at the frame. No smell so far. I have read that different fuels will smell stronger.

My dad's tank is not. So it it's a closed system, how would it be emitting fumes other than a leaky fitting or the hose issue? I know it's pretty tight because I've opened the filler and out comes a lot of pressure.

My tank has a remote mount vent. I haven't been able to get ahold of Russell (Edelbrock) to ask them about their hose without being on a long wait.
