1950 3800 Build

I have been inspired by so many different builds on this site that I thought I would start my own. This will be a long project as time is not on my side right now and money is never at disposal. My wife has dubbed this as the 10 year plan so we can make it they way we want it and have our two young boys help out as well. Regardless, I look forward to everyones ideas, advice and constructive criticism along the way.

You are correct! We do have some asphalt between you and I. On a side note, I have actually been to Faribault and loved every bit of it, gorgeous area. I was working a storm up there @ 4 years ago or so when that huge hail storm rocked just about every car and house in town. I have a great friend who lives in Owatonna.

50-Mo, cool truck. I also have a 1950 (mines a 3100) that I am doing an original restoration on. I just got it 2 weeks ago and like yours its a long term project. So far I have only restored a few dash parts but it runs. Check out my thead and when I get back to MN we can always swap questions and information. I'm out of the state for a few months and left my truck there.

Here are some more photos with the body and bed removed. Man the shop is nasty! I need to go clean that up, seems like it has become the store all location for everything and the oversized two car garage has only two cars in it. Go figure

[IMG][/IMG][IMG][/IMG] Well the engine, trans and transfer case are out of the frame. The frame will find it's new home on Sunday and I will have an original frame sitting in it's place on Sunday if all goes well.

Re: 1950 3800 Build

So not much been going on. Well thanks to hottrodd1 I have an original frame to start this project with. Couldn't convince myself to do the S10 swap although it would have been much cheaper. I wanted 2wd and he was wanting 4wd so it worked out well. Hole to get started on this soon, but inthe process of cleaning shop and painting some walls to brighten it up first.

Wow has it been that long since I have worked on this truck? Work has been really busy and now we are back in tornado season it will stay busy!

Not much of anything been going on here, fiddling with it when time allows. I put the cab and front end on the frame to see how it sits and I am pleasantly happy. Hope to get back on it soon!

Looks like you have a good truck to start with. I have a 49 Gmc that I'm putting on a s10 frame. Maybe we can hook up sometime and compare our projects. Welcome to the site you can learn alot of stuff on here.
