Seat covers and dash pad - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I give up. It's impossible to find dark red (burgundy?) interior parts. All the vendors have is bright red. So, I'm switching to black. Two questions:

1.) Who makes high quality, OEM-looking, scrolled vinyl seat covers? There are a million vendors, I know, but who's really good?

2.) Is it any big deal to replace the dash pad?

the dash pad is not fun to get out, you will have to take out your glovebox, radio, dash, defroster ducts, pretty much everything under your dash to get at the 6 or so nuts. oh, dont forget the 5 or so screws in the front. i took mine out and recovered in gray vynal. spent 10 bucks, looks great, except if you look real close on the very front corner, it has a wrinkle or two in it. but i saved a ton from new, but new ones might last longer than mine will. good luck, Ben

I believe that the color is known as OX BLOOD . If it is something you really want, I think it would be worth having your items professionally dyed. I looked at doing it on one of my cars and I would have been less than $100. My quote was for all the interior pieces of my 69 Galaxie. You should have only a few pieces(seats, sunvisors, armrests, and door panels, maybe a dash pad?).

The dash pad isn't that hard to do. All I removed was the glove box and the speedometer bezel. I left the radio and everything else in.

If I remember correctly, there were 8 nuts underneath and the screws on the front.

I thought taking out the dash pad was a bugger. I recommend taking out the bezel, radio, glove box, defrost and a/c ducts and replacing everything that looks bad at the same time.

I bought my dash pad from GMC Pauls, fits perfect and looks great. I need some seat covers too and hope someone will post a good source.

Ahh! Mine is non AC. If yours is AC, that will make a big difference for sure! Haven't done any of those yet.

I purchased a seat cover form www.****************.com. He doesn't have pictures of them on his website, but I know that the LMC catalog has colored pictures of them. They look the same as what I got from Rick and he is a great guy to do business with. I am very pleased with my seat and it is red cloth scroll on black vinyl. He has all of the seats that are available too.

Is it any big deal to replace the dash pad? __________________ Mike 1969 C10 LWB -- owned for 34 years. 350/TH350, 3.08 posi, 1st Gen Vintage Air, AAW wiring harness, 5-lug conversion, 1985 spindles and brakes. 1982 C10 SWB -- sold 1981 C10 Silverado LWB -- sold, but wish I still had it! 1969 C10 (not the current one) that I bought in the early 1980s. Paid $1200; sold for $1500 a few years later. Just a hint at the appreciation that was coming. Retired as a factory automation products salesman. Worked part-time over the years for an engine builder and a classic car repair shop. Member here for 23 years! This is the very first car/truck Internet forum I joined. I still used a dial-up modem back then!
