90 4x4 700R4 went out!
My brothers 90 700R4 4x4 tranny went out last week. I found a few 2wd 700r4s. Would the output shaft and transfer adapter just swap over from the 4x4 to the 2wd version? Easy as unbolting one and bolting the other up? I have heard it is that easy. What year of 2wd tranny should it be if so? thanks in advance!

There is a trans. shop in Kansas City that rebuilds them at a real reasonable price & has good quality. I don,t know if you want to bring it that far.

Re: 90 4x4 700R4 went out!
Well he has the truck in oregon so that might be a bit far! It is going to take him about 1500.00 for a shop to take it out and rebuild it. He does not have that money and i am not loaning it to him! ( making him grow up!) So i offered the used alternative. he could save 1000.00 by buying a used one and installing it himself. It just will not last as long. But i do not thnk he plans on keeping it long. I guess the hunt continues for a 4x4 tranny.
