One Ton

Has anyone ever replaced the front upper and lower control arms. Also the spindles on a 70 one ton dually, With 3/4 ton parts? Why would I want to do this? Because using the dually wheels. I want the dually wheels to match front and rear. But yet thinking if I did this I would narrow or shorten my front track.
Why narrow the width? Because I am putting a 1950 body on it. And really do not like the looks of the wheels sticking out past the front fenders.
