Hard to start cold
1997 Tahoe 5.7. It is very hard to start when it is cold. I installed dist. cap and rotor, spark plugs and wires. It still does the same thing. When I finally get it to run and warm up it will start and run fine. If it sits more than 6 or 8 hours, very hard to start.

Re: Hard to start cold
Sounds like the fuel line is depressurizing. Might be the check valve in the fuel pump.
Try this: turn the key on after it's been sitting for 6-8 hours but don't start it. Listen for the fuel pump to whine a little, then when it stops turn the key to start it. If it starts fine, it's losing the prime due the valve. If it's still starting hard, it could be an issue with the injection system.

Re: Hard to start cold
Thanks. The fuel pump is new, and I put on a new filter. When running the pressure is 54 lbs. I guess injectors are next to be replaced. It does have 167,000 miles so I guess it cant hurt.
