Could anyone with a short stepside take some measurements for me?

Hello everyone,

Would anyone with a 73-87 stepside please take some measurements for me. I am looking to retro-fit/modify this bed on a custom application.

What I am looking for (Rough measurements eyeballing with a tape will work just fine):

A: total length

B: front of bed to wheel centerline (or center of fender)

C: total bed height

D: inside bed width

E: total width from outside fender to fender

F: distance from bed floor/mounts to top of bed

Thank you in advance for any help, it is greatly appreciated!

Cheers ~Mykk

These one's are approximate:
B: 41.5"
C: 23" (28" from the bottom lip of the fender)

Of course, these measurements are provided with the expectation of pics of your build

If the truck in the picture is yours, leave it alone. It is perfect!

Re: Could anyone with a short stepside take some measurements for me?

I wish that was my truck. That was just the best truck bed (and best truck) I could find in a google search.

It's almost embarrassing to say, because I know of the online flack I'll get. But, I am thinking of mounting a modified & smoothed 73-87 stepside on my '04 RCSB

...I mean, after all it already has an 11:1 compression, roller 276/282 cam, GenI 4 bolt 350 with a mighty demon 750.

i HATE 88-98 beds on 67-72's, the front wheels wells are round fro crying out loud. but this might be interesting. post it in the photoshop sub-forum so you can get an idea of what it looks like

I know what your saying, and I was thinking since the GMT800 front fenders are squared, as well as the 73-87 beds... if the general dimensions lined up, I could finesse the sheet metal into place.

here is a side profile of my truck, test fitting a 09+ GMT900 GMC bed..... body lines didn't line up, and the the final outcome wouldn't be worth it to modify the bed mounts

On the 73-87 stepside, is there anything behind the step? can the step be removed?

nothing behind the step. They can be removed once the front step brace is taken out.

Re: Could anyone with a short stepside take some measurements for me?

If you were to cutout the fender opening from the original 04 and graft it to the older stepside fenders, I think you would nail the look...

Re: Could anyone with a short stepside take some measurements for me?

If you do a somewhat matching bumper on the back and grafted in the fenders, I think youd be there. Good luck with it and keep updating
