Paint made in Detroit by Chevy!!! its the factory blue and mother nature rust
I washed the body with CLR and rinsed with clear water, let dry, scrubed it out with red scotch brite pad and tranny fluid, let dry & wipe off excess

PATINA the new PAINT got to love it. I will get some more pictures when I can out of town for a while. thanks for the praise.

When that silly "rust looks good" fad is over there are going to be a lot of guys whining that they have rusted out trucks that need a lot of replacement parts and panels because they didn't fix the trucks when they needed fixing.

That trans fluid on the rust wouldn't fly here because it would be a mess of greasy dirt in about a day with the dust that blows in this valley.

Fads come and go!!! but I for one dig the patina look no trailer queen here just good old Detroit Iron & Horsepower!!!!!!!! The tranny fluid drys out and its no worse than paint for dust, I live in the middle of a desert in Las Vegas area so we know dust. I think the patina paint will help a lot of new hotrodders build cars/trucks that they can afford and not just sit waiting for expensive paint jobs?

I agree. It 's like if you paint your truck pink. You know that fad will go out of style..............oh wait........it already......... Your truck looks great, Corsair.

That's funny. But at least this is the real deal. I've seen trucks that have silly amounts of money and time in simulated patina. Cover it with primer, score real vintage parts wherever possible, and call it good. I like the way this one looks but I'd like it more if it were finished with an old school color.

Well, It's a difference of opinion. What you guys view as "patina" I view as rust and neglect. The same rust that will eat it's way through the panels and destroy the truck in a couple of years if it isn't taken care of.

This isn't a truck but the 52/53 Mercury has the real deal patina on it. Still almost nice original paint worn thin in a few places by years of polishing and waxing while being cared for by one owner for many of it's years. I knew the previous owner about 20 years ago and he kept it covered for years while driving it very little as the gas gauge didn't work.
The paint still shines, is worn through to the primer in a few spots but there is no signs of rust or neglect.


I'm just as broke as everyone else and have driven my 48 in primer longer than most guys on here are old and maybe that is why I am more than tired of the neglected look that some guys seem to think is so cool these days.

Not to get into the discussion between whether the patina look is good or bad, but I am curious, is it that hard to save up for a shop paint job? Me being a newbie, I honestly have no idea what they go for. I thought you could get one done for around $1,500-$2,000. Am I way off?

i think in todays market a good paint job done by a good reputable shop and ''done right '' will be in the 3 - 6 grand range' If you are able to do alot of the prep work yourself -you will save some -but good decent paint is $$$$$ also - my 02. centavos worth

here is some good patina ! This guy pulled it out of the nevada desert. stabbed a motor into it, brakes an all that an drove the heck out of it.

I like your truck Corsair.I think patina cars and trucks look great.I wish my truck had its original paint over the cheapie crappie paint it has now.I think he has awhile before his truck blows away into little rust flakes as he is driving down the road.I used to work at a paint and body shop after seeing the time effort and $ it takes to make a (decent) paint job i dont blame people for wanting to roll around in patina or even a rust bucket as long as it has safe brakes suspension and no major structual rust.Thats more important than shiney paint.

If you do the body and primer and most of the prep work it won,t be that bad

Yeah if you don't do anything but drop off a rusty dented truck off at a body shop. but then what do I know? I don't trust other people to do anything on my cars.
