Front upper shock mount stud

Hello all,

I have a 1969 K10 with a small lift and 33s. I recently removed the old worn out rancho shocks on the front. The uppers were mounted with long bolts and bushings or "sleeves" jammed in the frame holes. I had to destroy the sleeves in order to get the shocks out. The new shocks did not come with hardware, so I ordered new studs for the top mounts.

For the life of me I cannot understand how to get these studs in without grinding off the rivets that hold on the upper shock mounts. Maybe I have the wrong studs? What am I missing here?

The studs have a thick threaded portion that goes through the frame, a fixed nut, smooth shoulder where shock goes and small threaded portion to go through shock mount. The thing won't fit in there and it's driving me nuts. Please help!
