Re: Papa's truck build up

Wired up the wipers today... My neighbor had to read me the instructions while I fumbled with the wiring from the new harness to this trucks parts... Worked out well. Driving it to work again tomorrow.

Re: Papa's truck build up

We went just a bit over 1000 miles in 4 days and never had an issue!! This old truck was right at home on the highway and the back roads. We had multiple traffic jams with one moving at a snails pace for more than 2 hours and the truck never overheated. When we pulled into the hotels at night, many of the much nicer cars were topping radiators and oil off and this old truck didn't use a drip of either...
Anyway, here are some pix - hope you enjoy

Re: Papa's truck build up

the black stepper was actually the first power tour vehicle we saw last year coming into Joplin. It was good to see it again this year.

Oh, we even averaged 13.8 mpg the whole trip!! We didn't do any hot rodding because this truck just doesn't have it in it but that is 150% bette than the 9 mpg we got last year!! also, going from the 283/th350/3.90 setup (55 mph at 2900 rpm) to the 283/700r4/3.90 setup (65 mph at 2150 rpm) was so much better!! I do not know how some of these guys were running th400 and 4.11s on 29" tires!!

anyway, there won't be many updates now because the truck is where i want it until i locate a good bed and gather all the airbag parts.

We do have another project coming very soon that I think everyone will like!!

Like us on Facebook for the most up to date pictures on the projects we have going on -

Re: Papa's truck build up

Everyone, I have absolutely horrible news... I can't even talk about it. It's fixable but it'll take me 2-3 weeks to get over the damage. I've got a line on most of the parts so it'll get fixed soon.

Lady didn't go and I thought she did. Damn old people in Honda civics...

Re: Papa's truck build up

It'll b better than before. I'm gonna paint it, bag it, reupholster the seat before it comes out again in the spring.

The grill is fixable, we have a hood but need fender and core support.

Here's the Civic

All the front sheetmetal is off. I'm glad none of the other body mounts look like this one...

congrats on the find... parts look straight.
sounds like you're taking the plunge. bags and paint. going to be fun watching it all happen.

completely missed your post about the wreck. man, that can be an emotional wreck too... after doing the tour and coming home to that happening. bummer. but its pushing you to make your truck even better.

It'll be a great look when it's done. I'm ready to start wrenching again on it.

Shot from today. Truck started and ran well. Just a few more final touches and it will be good to drive while I get everything else ready for paint...

Re: Papa's truck build up

Got the wiring issue solved last night I think. Also relocated the battery to the bed. I'm going to build a old this weekend for the box so it's more enclosed.

Re: Papa's truck build up

Made it to one cruise-in. "Stanley" was the roughest vehicle there! He held his own w more people talking about it than any of the 15+ 2010+ Camaros there...
Another cruise-in in two weeks, I'll post pix
