What are these frame brackets for?

First off I apologize if this has been answered before, I tried searching but couldn't find a thread that had the answer I'm looking for.

The question I have are what function do these frame brackets serve? They're mounted on the inside of the frame forward of the coil spring perch on the start of the downward angle of the frame. Are they just for frame reinforcement at the point due to possible flex when loaded or do they serve another purpose?

Here are some pictures I snagged from another members thread but they illustrate the brackets in question perfectly

Thank you
