Need some help. Is this the wrong ball joint?
I can't get my spindle to sit down any further than this. It's a Mcgaughy 2.5" drop spindle and ridetech control arms. This doesn't look right to me.

Looks normal to me.
As long as you can see the hole for the cotter pin to go thru the castle nut, you should be good. Plus, if that spindle fit down onto the A-arm, there would be no room for movement of the suspension. It will look more normal once you put the ball joint boot on. Are the ball joint part numbers the correct one's for that year of spindle? What part number/model year did McGaughy's say you needed?

I had a similar issue and was using a '70 ball joint, but the spindles had been switched out to a '71 disk front. '70 & '71 are different ball joints, the '71s are skinner.

post the mcgoughy part # on here. i have the drop spindles for the 71-72 ball joints. ill tell you if i have the same part # as yours
67-70 uses 1 style ball joint in the lca`s 71-72 uses a skinnier one i believe 73 and up different lca ball joints too

6072R & 6072L are the numbers on the spindles.

there has to be room for the boot... thats what that is. Slide the boot on before you go wrenching that tight
