1971 C10 Longbed, 350 SBC, TH350

Gonna go ahead and get this out of the way: This is a project truck. Does it run? Yes. Will it do 100 miles home problem free? I don't know.
If you're looking for a show truck or something that you won't have to wrench on, this isn't it.

Why am I selling it? I'm buying a new house and won't be able to do any work on this truck for minimum 6-8 months. I'd rather sell it to someone that wants to fix it or strip it.

How much? Looking for $2,200.

Ok, so here's the details of it:
  • 1971 C10 Long Bed with a Chevy 350 SBC and TH350
  • Painted flat black by the previous owner with a red interior
  • Seems to be mostly rust free. There's some surface rust on the frame and on the inside of a front fender panel, but I have not found any rot.

The engine:
  • 1970 SBC 350, was rebuilt by p/o and then I did a refresh with the intake, head, and exhaust gaskets and some other components. Probably the original block but can't confirm that.
  • It has number 434 heads which are for a 305, so small chamber high compression
  • Weiand stealth dual-plane aluminum intake
  • Edlebrock Performer 650 carburetor with manual choke
  • GM-style HEI distributor
  • New Accell 8mm plug wires
  • New spark plugs
  • Hedman long tube headers
  • Exhaust is a dual exhaust with no crossover, a muffler attached to each collector and then exits in front of the rear tires on each side
  • New alternator
  • New alternator bracket
  • New fuel filter
  • New aluminum radiator and electric fans

The drivetrain:
  • TH350 with a B&M ratcheting style shifter
  • Not sure how this thing is geared, but yo'll do 4500-5000RPM at 70mph on the highway
  • Front disc, rear drums, full manual brakes

The interior:
  • Bench seat
  • No radio
  • No A/C or heat, but the head unit for standard fan/heat is there and works. But the heater core isn't plumbed (water pump heater ports are plugged)
  • Gauges are of different brands/styles but they work

The body:
  • Very minimal rust from what I have seen
  • Body panels DO appear to be original but just painted over. The p/o didn't paint some inside parts of them black and you can still see the original blue paint color.
  • Don't know what brand the wheels are. They were on there when I got it.

The ugly:
  • Smokes when cold, primarily the drivers side. Don't know if it's valve stems or a hairline crack in the head. Cylinder pressures were good across the board.
  • Carb and timing need to be dialed in. I didn't get around to doing this. I got them where the truck would idle and drive but neither are where they really need to be.
  • Upgraded to an alternator instead of a generator. The wiring was a mess when I got it and I cleaned it up a bit, but it's still a mess under the hood.
  • The electric fans must be turned on manually. The automatic switch DOES work but it connects into the heater core hoses, which are bypassed/removed.
  • Swapped out the mechanical oil pressure gauge to electric and it decided to not work. Have not messed with it since. Engine DOES have good pressure, just either the sender, wiring, or the gauge are faulty.

Any questions let me know.
