Why do folks post...

An open ended question like the title of this thread that says absolutely NOTHING about the subject of the thread?

Please forgive me for doing that....

You get it!

Let’s hope the folks guilty of doing it will!

I thought you were going to say, "... in the wrong forum?"

If I've ever done it before it's because I figured what was there gave an idea of what was to come before clicking. I would do it for the sake of being fun for myself and others. That's in this forum since it is general discussion, which means talk about anything under the sun. We don't come here looking for specific information, more like to see what might be here... random topics. I think it makes life more colorful to take other than only a straight on approach to things that don't really need to be so structured, serious, whatever. I do it with kids, make them think, stay on their toes. If someone is starting a thread looking directly for exact responses then by all means, put it in the title. I see the opposite, people putting all the info in the title. There's nothing left but to repeat the title or post "What the title says". What it all comes down to for me is, I only open the threads I feel like.

Its a hook, that's it. Forcing you to open the thread to see what's hiding in there. If you are on a laptop (or similar) you just hoover your mouse/pad arrow over the heading and it show you what it says before opening it. Its one of those things that falls in to the ALL CAPS category. Bugs some people, most don't really care.

Even worse, is when someone posts an open-ended question like that in the wrong forum, and then it gets moved, because then you can't even hover your mouse over the title and see the first part of the message. You have to then click the subject to see what it says.

I understand and agree completely! However, if I had posted this thread in the forum where I spend almost all my time and where it really irritates me when folks either unintentionally or intentionally set a hook there (67-72 message board), this thread would have been moved here or justifiably deleted.
