How are others finishing behind seats with no gas tank? - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

Planning ahead in my mind while my truck is away at paint. My tank is moved to the rear. I have buckets to install. I'm wondering how others have finished that area. I think this will help with noise suppression as well. I envision something that wraps around the corner area. Here's some progress pics they sent me.

I just ran the sound deadening up the back of the cab and installed the Auto Custom Carpet kit to help with the sound/drone attenuation. If you're into a big sound system, it's a great opportunity to build a custom speaker enclosure.

I kept it low buck but decent. First i put the sound deadener stick on stuff covering around 60%, then jute pad, the carpet runner from Home Depot. My bottle jack lives in the cab corner and they are covered by block off panels made of heavy carboard which I painted black and attached fiberglass ductwork insullation to the backsides with spray adhesive. I used the adhesive on the back wall to keep the jute and carpet up too. I wasn't sure how to work around the old flanges on the wall for the tank straps so i just cut a little flap in the carpet. The glue came loose there, but I don't care.

I also did the sound deadening up the back and then covered it with this felt that I pulled out of a 97 regular cab. I had to clean it up and drill a few holes for the Christmas tree fasteners. I’m pretty happy with it.

Did some scouting around the wreckers this morning and came home with this for $10. It's from a 2004 F150 reg cab. I plan to trim the top off a bit to bring it closer to the back and I'll trim the bottom to follow the contours. The back wall has a bracket for the gas tank straps and I'm thinking I can utilize those with some slip on C clips nuts. It'll get some black vinyl paint. (you'll have to stand on your head to look at the pic)

I built this out of fibreglass. Has storage with a cover that opens and speakers on the ends.

When I swapped in bucket seats, I built a full panel behind the seats out of 1/8" ABS plastic covered in diamond tufted marine vinyl. I subsequently redid the entire insides with full door panels and full size diamonds:

Yes it's the 1965 Brigade Blue but it's base/clear.

Here's that 04 F150 back wall panel painted and installed. It's pretty sturdy and the two bolts into the existing brackets on the back wall hold it nicely. I have two L brackets in each lower corner as well. I've ordered some 1/8" ABS bendable sheet plastic to form into the corners.

I got the corners finished. I bought .093 12 x 24 sheets of plastic (Kydex V) off of Ebay. I made cardboard templates. The Kydex I was able to form in a curve using some heat from a heat gun. There was some color variation so I sprayed it with the same vinyl paint I used on the centre section. I have Honda Odyssey door seals that have the extra lip on the inside and was able to slip the plastic into that lip.

Donor was a regular cab but I never checked others to see if it was the same.
