Re: 1962 Chevy K20 4X4 LB FS 3/4 Ton

John the 60-62 K series are not as high 7 13/16 VS 8 1/8 for the 63-72. not an insurmountable difference
I just went out and measured my 64 K frame on the inside height at the mount and it was 5 1/4" on the 84 K frame at the same place was 5 1/8"

Mind you those measures are at the thickest part of the frame under the cab and doesn't give any reference to what they are anywhere else. they may be at the same size at the motor mount position

My '75 K5 frame measures 5-5/8" where the engine mount bolts up. The '81-'87 frames must be slightly shorter?

Re: 1962 Chevy K20 4X4 LB FS 3/4 Ton

John; I did talk to the fellow about the later eng mounts/ crossmember. he says that his came out of a Jimmy. all that he had to do was cut 11/16 of the top of motor mount part and the he welded a 3/16" plate 90 degrees to the top of it so that it would slip inside the frame rails so that he could drop 2 bolts down through the top of the frame. he aligned the m/mounts with the frt axle as to the same alignment that it was in the jimmy, which I think brings it further forward than where the sbc originally would sit in the truck. we did measure the height of his eng vs the one in my 4 x 4 and his sat 1/2" higher than mine. he also couldn't fit the shroud on the rad so he is running electric fan .he is also running a serpentine setup. he also put in the later sway bar crossmember for the swaybar. all fits fine

OK, so some modification was necessary. That is what my measurements were telling me also. Thanks for the clarification.

What did you end up using for the engine mounts?
