Your advice on rebuilding a 350
Hi I have a 1972 C20 with a 250 I6....im wanting to put a new motor in...possibly a 350.....But my dad used to have a 1972 C10 and it is just sitting in the woods with a 350 sitting in the bed of the truck.....So I was thinking of tearing that down and rebuilding her....but since its been sitting in the bed of his truck for around 25 years, in the rain and snow (it is sitting under a tree though) would it even be worth it?

Was it at least covered up? If not it probably wouldn't be worth it. However, I'd be tempted to at least try to rotate the crank after squirting oil in the cylinders.

No it wasnt coverd up....the choke plates are rusted shut on the carb too.

Yeah, soak the cylinders with lots of transmission fluid for a week or so and then beat the pistons out of it. if the cylinder walls aren't pitted too bad from rust it should be just fine to rebuild. if it's had heads and plugs on it, it might not be in too bad of shape unless the carb is upright so rain could just pour into the cylinders.
Either way, I wouldn't write it off until I saw the inside of it. Sometimes long shots do pay off. It's only a little time and effort to see if it's any good.
