License Plates #'s

I am wondering out there if any body can give me the correct numbering/ letter sequence for a 1968 C10 LB for the license plates. Mine is a tad bent up and I only have the rear front is MIA. I would like both I have found very little sets out there, Mine starts out two numbers, space, three numbers, space, one letter. I have seen two trucks one 68 and one 69 with plates mixed up, both found on the"net" start out with one letter, space, two numbers, space, three letters. also found some on Ebay the mixed up way. DMV is a waste of time due to the fact the age of it, don't know if I try a different person behind the counter might get a different answer. ANY help would be great. Thamks, mjgord51

Re: License Plates #'s

The sequence you have is the same I can document to a known original black plate 71. Suggest you run through the CA commercial plate thread first.

These are the original California plates issued for my 69 purchased new from a now defunct Chevy dealer (Barton's Chevrolet) in Yorba Linda on November 20, 1969.

Re: License Plates #'s

I've owned a few 68's in my day and most of the black commercial plates have started with Q, (Q12 345) or V (V12 345), or began with A (12 345A) , or B (12 345B) and while were at it most of my 69' plates ended with C (12 345C) or D (12 345D), 70's were F (12 345F) or G (12 345G), 71' were H (12 345H) or J (12 345J), 72 were J (12 345J) or Blue plates ending K or L (most 72' plates were blue)

Re: License Plates #'s

My '68 C/10 Stepside, which I bought in Pasadena in 1973, originally had Calif. black plates [10 566 A] on it before I had to surrender them to the Ariz. MVD. Since I had an AZ driver's license, the military required the vehicle to be registered in the same state, even though I was stationed in NC.
IIRC, the long-lost build sheet stated it was from Felix Chevrolet in downtown LA. Fremont truck. Unusual options like 292 L6, SM465, 17.5'' rims, West Coast Jr mirrors, 516 Orange paint, Safe-t step bumper and bed toolbox, no radio and manual everything lead me to believe it was part of a fleet order.

Nice truck.
Are they still around? I haven't hung out in LA for about 16 years.

I bought a Felix the Cat decal from GSPP or Car and Truck Shops a long time ago. Haven't put it on yet. If I can still find it.

I bought a Quasar Blue 1990 Corvette from them, and yes, they are still in business.
