did the deluxe steering wheel have a rpo code?

Just curious if the deluxe steering wheel had a rpo code or part of another package?

Re: did the deluxe steering wheel have a rpo code?

Wasn't it part of the "Custom Comfort" RPO package? Seat, visor, lock, armrest, wheel?

Im pretty sure that's correct, but there may have been an option to order just the wheel. The custom comfort option in 63 was Z62 or Z61....just can't remember and would have included the wheel....in 63 at least

Re: did the deluxe steering wheel have a rpo code?

See what I love about a simple question like this, that turns into a literature search to try and figure out how it could be done.
According to the the 63 Truck Data Book, the Deluxe Steering Wheel was part of RPO Z61. Thank's 1963c10.
The 63 Accessories Book has no listing as a dealer installed Accessory.
The 63 Salesman's pocket guide has no separate listing for the deluxe wheel on it's own.
What I've come to discover that not all accessories were Factory installed.
I have found references stating which Accessories could be factory and which were dealer, but due to computer and time restrictions, have not scanned them yet.
If there was a separate RPO I assume the designate letter would N.

This brings to mind power steering. No RPO code on the order sheet for lighter series, but I found a reference to N40 for the heavier duty trucks.

Z61 Was the RPO Code for the deluxe steering wheel.

Info found in my parts book P&A 31 for the 46-72 10,20,30 series

Re: did the deluxe steering wheel have a rpo code?

As mentioned above, Z61 is not the RPO for the wheel, it's the complete Custom Comfort option package.

Re: did the deluxe steering wheel have a rpo code?

My 63 panel has that option- z-61, has aluminum anodized beltline(?) trim(“custom” stamped on it behind doors) and grill, 1/2” stainless W/S trim, stainless(?brushed!) front bumper, stainless trim on dash control knobs. It also has chrome rear bumper(different option(panel not same as pickups)?) The steering wheel, well I put it in my 1st 63 panel for a tilt/telescopic(66caddy), that was reconfigured for a 63 c-10, don’t recall it being different, I’ll check it out. I will try and get a pic up of some of the trim.

Option z61 also had polished hub caps(forgot pics). Here’s the panel/burb side trim, bumpers, and standard steering wheel.
