sm420 trans

I have a sm 420 in my 61 k10 (org 61 trans) shifts ok but in 4th gear at around 35mph it starts making a whorly type sound kinda like a bad speedo cable or similar sound. it has a pto mounted (not engaged) and the speedo from the t/f case is disconnected. clutch tob is not engaging the p/plate. anything in the trans that would do this and only in 4th gear. probably time for a rebuild.
