Re: project 39

Being I am getting older, fatter and don't bend as well any more I decided I needed the fuse panel to be much easier to access than what I have done in the past. I tried a few different ideas I had for a hinged fuse panel, after a few tries I decided the simple way probably was the best way. As all of us with these trucks know there is little room under dash, I had to clear the a/c vent hose on the drivers side. I think this will work. I used 1/2" square tube and a hinge.

Re: project 39

I worked on the side panels between the box and running board. The stock panel didn't do any thing for me, so I thought I would make one in the style of the 48 -up truck. I made a cardboard pattern, cut out steel and after a little bending, shrinking and hammering I have 2 side panels ready.

Re: project 39

I thought I would update this since its been a while. I will post some pics when I find my camera. I haven't got much done in the last few months because of grand kids, more doctor visits from my eye injury last fall, car shows, el camino project and the usual work/home life. I did spend a bunch of money on it this summer including but not limited to classic instrument gauges, glide seat and fresh chrome parts. I did cut the holes in the dash for the new gauges but of course it can never be that simple--- will post soon

Re: project 39

just a quick update on the dash. I cut the holes for the gauges and realized that the dash was curved just enough that the top of the gauge would not sit flat. I have a plan to make it look right. will post after I get it setup.
