Wierd brake light/blinker issue.

I have a 65. When I turn the lights on the parking lights and brake lights work fine. If I try to use my turn signal though the brake light just goes dark. If I let off the brakes and leave the blinkers on they will blink. What would cause the light to go dark when the brakes are pushed. I guess I need to try hitting the brakes with the blinker on but the lights off. I don't think I tried that.

99% of the time I've found it's a bad ground somewhere when it comes to these trucks. Look at your grounds, clean them up and go from there.

I agree with a bad ground.

The light housing bolts to the truck. There are no ground wires. Should I add a wire from the housing to the frame you think?

Re: Wierd brake light/blinker issue.

There should be ground straps from the bed to the frame, and the battery should have a ground to the frame one way or another. The big ground from the battery should always go to the engine to run the starter. The cab should also have ground straps to the frame, as should the core support.

I generally start fresh and wire everything from the cowl back after I get everything checked out under the dash. Yes grounds are the most important.
