Re: 60-66 Chevy Truck spotters thread.

It would be interesting to know if that is a factory build, or an owner created vehicle. Looks like maybe it was for an airport or mobile home application.

Re: 60-66 Chevy Truck spotters thread.

Its a cab for moving mobile homes. The short wheelbase makes it easier to maneuver the house.

With those mirrors, I'm guessing mobile home mover.

Re: 60-66 Chevy Truck spotters thread.

I saw this patina/faux'tina 66 at the Tyrods Car Club Fall Cruise last weekend. I asked the owner if he was a member here, but he said he's "not a computer guy".

I saw these two last week. I've spotted the longbed before on this thread. This time it's moving. This is the first time I've seen the stepside.

Re: 60-66 Chevy Truck spotters thread.

Yep - it was next to an old mobile home sales business.
I wonder how it would travel at speed with such a short wheelbase, without towing a mobile home.

Re: 60-66 Chevy Truck spotters thread.

typically they will load the follow car/truck piggy back on the back of the truck with a special mount. They can get a lot of weight to hang off the back making it a bit more stable. However if they have to travel very far bobtail, they will usually just load it onto a flatbed and have it trucked to location. They are too squirrelly to try and drive very far. I used to drive trucks for a living and the guys next door to my terminal used to ferry mobile homes. When they would need to be trucked to a location they would use us. Their boss had a 50 mile limit on bob-tailing and even then had more than their share of accidents.

Re: 60-66 Chevy Truck spotters thread.

Spotted this Stepper about a 1/2 hour from my house today at a local trucking company. Looks like it's in nice shape! I also spotted a GMC just down the road from this one.

Re: 60-66 Chevy Truck spotters thread.

Saw this one about a month back. I have a customer (Lowdown Hotrods) who always has a lot of cool projects on the go. This 62 belongs to one of their clients, didn't get an opportunity to meet him. The ghost busters ambulance is one of the originals from the first movie. They are currently waiting on authorization from the owner to proceed.

Re: 60-66 Chevy Truck spotters thread.

Saw both of these today, the 47-53 obviously is not one of ours, but you seldom see any real hotrods around here, so thought I would share.

I forgot to post pics of this 63 that I went to look at with a buddy who was thinking about buying.

It's located in the town of Delhi, Ontario.

Mine, brought it home 2 weeks ago.

And two 1960 GMC's that I am thinking about.

That GMC sheet metal should fit the Chevy, correct?
