72 reproduction door panels - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I’ve always read on here that reproduction 72 door panels are of sub-par quality in the fitment department. Is there, or has there ever been more than one manufacturer of the panels? The reason I ask is because a truck I bought recently had a set on the doors and while it’s fairly easy to distinguish them from OEM, they look decent IMO and they fit the doors very well and do not stick out. They are contoured as original and not “flat” as others have shown on their doors here, causing the poor fitment. They are made in USA, not overseas as most reproduction parts are. You can see the doors were originally blue

but the panel fits nicely

I found their website, they're pricey but since they appear to fit nice that would definitely be worth it.

What sucks is they list 3 different blues, but no color swatches?

Will the factory trim fit? That was the thing I didn't like no trim. They won't look like originals until they get the trim. So will the OEM trim fit is the question.

I think the factory trim will fit, if you drill out the holes. They appear to me to have been molded from factory originals. There are “indentations” on the back of each one for the screw holes as original. I compared them to some oems that I have and they are very close. They are molded in white and coated in the saddle color. They have reinforcements along the back too.

After seeing those I think I had my nice original Black ones priced way too low ,glad now they did not sell . Had a guy at the swap meet that thought $100 was way high for them . I brought them back home to my shipping container .

Can you lay a piece of trim face side down on the opposite door panel to check for fit? I don't know if there is more than one reproduction panel available out there. I remember the first ones seen, from LMC, were said to not accept that trim. That's why I ask. My only other negative is it's a shame they offer them in the colors they choose and not necessarily the OEM colors. So you guess on a match from a little oval swatch that may or may not be the exact shade you are seeing on your screen. There is always over dying in correct match. But for the money that's an awful lot like restoring old original panels.

I also have to ask, what's so special about their arm rests? $180 + $25 for color, are they really that different than the $40 ones?!?!?!.

I'm willing to pay up for stuff that fits (especially those door panels!) but $200 for arm rests???

Haven't used them, I found some really nice blue originals for my crew cab since that I didn't think would pop up. I bought these for the crew, but I don't think I am going to use them now.

Have you laid the chrome trim ring over the top to see if it will fit? I don’t have any here laying around to test on mine. Looking at them it appears to me they will fit with no problem.

I will see if I have a trim laying around. I think they will fit as well, if you drill the holes.

These look a lot better than the crappy set I bought from Brothers Trucks about 10 years ago. Those things had absolutely no chance of fitting the door. The dimensions and curvature were way off.

I cleaned up the interior of my truck enough (even added a new usb ported radio!) that I'm going to put my crappy door panels back on, but with all the paint falling off I wanted to try these ones.

After they charged almost $50 for shipping, the dashtop price was around $350 with taxes.

I googled their brand and found a few places that sell them. This place had them for $220 and free shipping, so I started to place an order then randomly was offered 10% off, so with taxes they were only $210. The name and part number/color matches the dashtop website, so we'll see what I actually get...

Jesse ,those look great ,I hope they fit as nice as they look . And I had a guy at a swap meet that thought $120 was high for a nice pair of Black originals ,I brought them back home too. Is your track a 72 with a 67 nose ?

No. It's always been a 67 shortbed stepside, but the interior was one visor and metal panels, and the seat was all tore up. My grandpa had a 1972 flatbed he used for YEARS that I spent a ton of time riding around in. The motor blew up when I was 16/17 with only +/-75K on the truck (grandpa put on a new water pump, winter sneaked up on him, and the block cracked), so the interior was pretty nice. I took the seat, steering wheel/column, door guts and door panels, visors, and dash and put them all in my C10 like 20 years ago. I really like the look of the 72 stuff over the other years, so when I redid my interior I went blue. The SC sun has taken it's toll on my panels, I left them off a couple years and they've warped a bit and I painted them blue over black like 13 years ago and the paint was all falling off... The seat's recovered in the 72 scroll style and I have a new blue dash pad, visors, AND headliner for it too.

They do not fit, the factory stainless trim is about an inch too long
