that notices little things like using shrink tubing on all the electrical leads/ends in the engine compartment. it just makes everything look more neat and orderly in an engine bay. i'm just pet-peevish about little things like that,that finishes off things.guess i'm just weird.....doh!!

I'm big on trying to do the little things to make my truck look extra special. My room mate always talks trash cuz I'll do something, and redo it like 6 or 7 times because i always find a neater, or more concealed way to do something. He tends to just throw it together and drive as soon as possible. Thats just not my style.

The first thing I do when I look at a truck is check under the hood and the dash and look at the electrical connections.......you have no idea how many times I've seen trucks or cars that just had the wires twisted together.......didn't even bother to buy a roll of tape!! I don't like chasing electrical problems anyway, much less fixing someones hack job.

I've always been big on shrink tubing. I've had winter road salt eat thru 12 guage wire that was unprotected. Took 2 days to find out why truck would'nt start.

i buy shrink tubing in 25foot rolls find all sorts of uses for it

If you are going to make an electrical connection between two wires, there is only one way IMHO...tin both ends, solder and shrikwrap. You get full continuity out of the wire, and it is protected from the elements. Oh yeah...looks good too!

Anybody ever seen soldered connectors? The only ones i've ever found were crimp. Most anyone i ever talked to crimped their wires.

I use the crimp butt conectors with the heat shring tubing already on them. Kinda expensive, but my boss told be to help myself.

j.c.whitney has rolls of shrink tube and i also purchase the real premium stuff thats waterproof from a local marina

Low69, what kind of car does your roommate have? A rice burner or something close that will either breakdown or fall apart in a year, where our trucks or still going strong after 35 or so years............
