Thanks, I really don't know a lot about the back ground of the truck, but I have been looking for one for over 25 years, and then you find, then life happens, but I got one know. it has buckets seats, console. vintage a/c, 18/20 wheels, lowered 4 in the front rear unsure? next is relocating the gas tank to the rear and rear disk brakes. has a transmission leak that I nee to address as well. the color is butternut yellow, white top.

Thanks guys, I was surprised myself, most would have a 400, but who knows whats been in this thing? thinking of going with a 700r4?

If you go 700R4, get two of them. That way you have one waiting to go in after you blow it. You can then rebuild and just rotate them.

Man I hear ya. I was ready to pull the trigger then we had twins. That put a hold on everything for a while
Just FYI. I just did the upgrades you are describing
1. I bought a aluminum baffled tank from performanceonline.com
Great tank reasonable price. Doesn't hang way down like the blazer tank does.
2. Got rear disc conversion from little shop manufacturing.
Very reasonable price and works great.

Whatever tank you go with, plan it out. If you go blazer tank, you will have to cut bed crossmember, figure out where/how to route the fuel etc etc. My advise would be avoid the blazer tanks and move up to the nicer ones. Lots of guys have put them in (including me), but they have a lot of little "issues" that make them kind of a pain.

I decided on the Boyds tank. It went in fairly easy, the hard part was the in tank pump, return line, and cutting the hole on the bed. It turned out really nice though and was worth the effort.

Did you pull the bed off or leave it on? I would like to do it with the bed on, but unsure at this point?

I have a wood bed and installed mine with the bed on.
Little tricky but can be done.
Precise measuring for filler neck location.
Enough room to tighten filler neck rubber between bed and tank.
The tank from performance online came with a
Metal strap with nuts welded to it.
I drilled 1/2" in frame for the mounting bolts then taped the
Metal strap with nuts on inside part of frame since you can't access it with tank in place.
Make sense? Kinda confusing to explain.
I was going to just drill and tap the frame for the mounting bolts but didn't think the frame material was thick enough to be safe.

My blazer tank required removing the bed. I also have a steel floor.

Previous owner had started the swap so the bed was already just sitting frame/tank when I got it.

I started the project without pulling the bed. Ended up pulling for ease of completing the project. I don’t have access to a lift and was sick of rolling around on my back. Taking the bed off was a lot easier than I thought it would be. Unhook the tail lights harness and six bolts, then have some meatheads over to help lift it off. Mine is a short bed with steel floor. Two of us could do it, four was a cake walk.
