92 Sport Side Molding
I have a 1992 Sport Truck that I've had for 18 years. It's time for another repaint and I really need to replace the red and black side and bumper moldings. Does anybody know of any aftermarket or reproductions of these? Or is there anyway to restore the old molding? Thanks for any info.

Re: 92 Sport Side Molding
That's a good question. Who knows, maybe the dealerships can still get it, if LMC hasn't bought it up. I'm sure their black is just that. It would say red if it was the special Sport trim. Could you show a picture of a piece? I am sure the black could be brought back to clean and crisp, but wondering how they did the red.

Could the black be painted with bumper paint maybe?

Re: 92 Sport Side Molding
Rustoleum has this product called Wipe New that works better than anything else I've heard of or found to restore the black in weathered plastic trim. The stuff stinks and you must wear gloves but it works very well. As for painted surfaces the best restoral is new paint.

Re: 92 Sport Side Molding
I will probably have to just try painting these. Looks like the "1500 bowtie" was all red and painted black and the side molding was all black with the red painted in. Thanks for the responses.

Re: 92 Sport Side Molding
white scotchbrite pads, trim black paint and red pinstripe paint...they appear to adhered well still.
if need use a weather strip glue, JUST DONT PULL THEM TO REMOVE, they will stretch |

Re: 92 Sport Side Molding
Yep, It looks like I will be restoring these myself. I have had them off once before on the first repaint, using stainless wire to cut the adhesive foam to remove you won't damage them and I recommend replacing the foam trim adhesive with 3M products only. The first no-name brand I used didn't last one month.
