Re: Dinger's Build thread

Not going to have one for a while. Wife's mini van has engine issues so I have the engine torn down right now. I hate working on vans, always did.

Re: Dinger's Build thread

Still not a lot going on with the truck. I have been working on the wifes van. It's turning into a complete over haul.

I love this evapo rust, I bought a small parts cleaner from Harbor freight and filled it with the stuff. Here is a bracket from inside the drivers door. I did leave these brackets out for week with no protection on them. The rust is reforming. A little metal wash would have protected them.

Before: Hand wire brushed only

Really? you sure thats rust? Maybe its just the lighting? Next your going to tell be the door has rust too.

To fix that I would have to pull everthing off the frame repair any weak spots and treat the frame so it does not come back. Maybe I will do that. I could start a thread here and document the whole process. I could call it Dinger's build thread. Hmmm wait a sec.............

FYI up here in the north that rust is normal. As a inspection mechanic I sent 77-79 Monte Carlo's and Malibu's to the junk yard for frame rot as early as 1985. 40 year and no holes is pretty good. I was expecting patching on the frame so far I have not seen anything that needs a patch.
