thank you so much brother. i appreciate the compliments!!!

i have run into an issue. i'll search the paint threads too. now that everything is in the sun while i'm wet sanding and stuff, i am seeing more and more tiger striping.

i'm in a quandary......

Re: Low budget Garage build "Ted"

the striping is an experience thing or the lack there of actually. I think I'm going to take it back down with 600 tomorrow and respray everything. I shot everything in the garage and got in a hurry ( again; non-experience) and shot the clear as soon as the base "dulled". I should have pushed it outside to see where my trouble spot were before the clear........oh well

At least I know how to wet sand now....hahahaha

Re: Low budget Garage build "Ted"

my neighbors think I'm crazy for sanding a "fresh" paint job. wait till i push it out of the garage tomorrow and it's orange with a purple racing stripe....hahahahah

Re: Low budget Garage build "Ted"

re-shot everything today. much better coverage. the clear laid out a lot better too. the clear thing was a mixing/reducer issue. there should be a lot less wet sanding involved on this paint job; that's only a week old....hahahah

sorry no pictures.....it actually looks the same, just with better coverage and no tiger stripes

Re: Low budget Garage build "Ted"

wife helped me install my hood, hopefully for the last time a couple nights ago. needs some adjusting but not too much.

dropped off my side and back glass to be tinted today. came home and got a wild hair to go ahead and install my front glass.. wasn't too bad by yourself, lots of inside and outside and passenger side and driver side moving haha. its in and looks great!!

Re: Low budget Garage build "Ted"

sprayed my grill inserts and bumpers yesterday. real happy with how the rear bumper turned out. i've always liked the "stamped dealer" bumpers.
my brother told me this gentleman passed away not too long ago. it would have been cool to show him one of the trucks he sold 51 years ago. the company that did it however is still in business. they were the ones that actually stamped it.
i have a few friends that live in mart, i will send him the picture and see if any of the dealers kids still live close.

Re: Low budget Garage build "Ted"

also replied to a "stamped bumper" thread. i think the dealer stamped bumpers are pretty cool. i do agree with the guys that say they don't want to "advertise" for a dealer, BUT, i wasn't a "thought" in my folks mind in 1967. so, i feel ok showing off the dealer. and actually i live about 5 mile from the guys that stamped the bumper. when i'm done with this little guy 'll prolly take it by so they can se their bumper...

Re: Low budget Garage build "Ted"

Nice work Steven! Truck looks great man! I really like the white bumper look. Fact is it was a hard decision for me to stay with white or go chrome. I finally decided to get them ordered and I went chrome. I hope to paint my truck as fine as you did yours! I want to go with the light blue and white two tone....

Re: Low budget Garage build "Ted"

thank you brother!!!

i was torn between chrome and white. nobody chromes close to me and i REALY didn't want to pay what they wanted. my bumpers after cows and hay and fertilizer hauling were in really good shape.
thank you for the paint compliment. it still has flaws but so do i. hahaha i am very happy with how everything is coming together.

Steven you gotta be proud of your work. It has turned out so nice for your first paint job. I love the fact that you let the young'un help you out on your toy. It says alot about your character brother. Good on you. -Brian

Re: Low budget Garage build "Ted"

i put a small piece of pin-stripping tape under vinyl letters so it was easier to remove the vinyl letters. had it come out of the bottom just in case i had a run. didn't want it leaking to the white
