Re: 52 vac wind shield wippers???

I haven't had the "opportunity" to rebuild one yet since mine are still working...
whish, psssh, stutter, swish

I've heard that this guy will not only redo them for $79 (I know, I know) but also sells parts if you end up needing them.

Whish I could be more help.

Just a thought, if you are thinking about converting to electric, you don't have to go with one of those relatively expensive kits. There are several other methods to get away cheaper. I'll see if I can locate the article, but there was an article a few years back in one of the magazines about putting a Toyota wipermotor in. Also, it is relatively simple to use a cheap boat windshield wiper motor.

Looked through all my old magazines and can't find it. But this is basically the same idea:

Re: 52 vac wind shield wippers???

Or like I said, if you want to go cheap use something like this:

boat wiper motor"

or

eBay

You'll have to do some fabbing of some brackets and as long as you don't mind the wipers not wiping "butterfly style" a little ingenuity will make that one of the cheapest ways.

That first listing is for a 110 degree sweep. You can also find them in a 80 degree sweep which probably would be a better option.

leave it mounted and just use rain-x. the vacuum wipers are junk and rain-x is less than $10. they also have a product if your defrost system doesn't work for the inside of the windshield.

that's called fog-x. works pretty well, i had a 55 bel air that the heat/defrost didn't work, and the fog-x worked pretty good for me

Re: 52 vac wind shield wippers???

I have had my motor apart but it has been many years ago. From what I remember it is a very simple setup. I think it was harder to remove the motor than actually fix it. The inside is simply a paddle consisting of a piece of leather sandwiched between two metal plates. The paddle arm is attached to or is the spline that your arm attaches to. I softened the leather with some Vaseline reassembled it and I have had no problems since. Don't be afraid to take it apart it is an extremely simple setup and you will have no problems.
