Question Lock-Right into a front Dana 60

My lockright #2620 just came in for my front D60. Anyone ever installed one? I put one in the rear 14 bolt a long time ago but this looks different. The instuctions are rather vague. They say that I may or may not need to remove the ring gear. I might have to remove one axle or I might not or both ??? Any tips would be appreciated.

Nope, never done that..is that a "locker" or a "Posi/limited slip"?

Re: Lock-Right into a front Dana 60

I guess its technically neither. Maybe something in-between. I love the one in my 14 bolt. I've heard that they perform well in front D60's. We'll see.

Just looked at my D60 and I have the same thing in mine. I wasn't sure what mine came with but that name sounded farmiliar so I just looked (working from home this week) and sure enough that is what I have...no clue how well it works..find out soon I guess.

Re: Lock-Right into a front Dana 60

If it stops raining, maybe I can install the damn thing tonight after work.

FUNNY, I dont mind the rain when it means wheeling in the wet stuff, plus it keeps the dust down. BUT lately in only seems to rain when the Blazer is down....

AMEN to that! Got the truck down, and I'm riding the bike until I can get the truck back together... I did it this week, because they forcasted high 70's and dry, but OH NO, they lied! it's been mid 60's at best and rained a little every day...

Good luck to you!

Re: Lock-Right into a front Dana 60

Man if this thing works HALF as good as it was EASY to install I'll be thrilled. I didnt have to remove the carrier or the axles. Just pulled the center pin out, popped out the spiders and the 6 locker pieces went in one at a time. Simple, it only took about 30 minutes.

I hope to try it out this weekend.

Re: Lock-Right into a front Dana 60

I tried mine this past weekend, and it worked awesome! My steering leaves a little to be desired now though (going hydro assist in the near future) even with crossover.

Straight up locker! It was so sweet, I had no problems with both wheels pulling whatsoever.

Gun control, the theory that 110lb. women have the "right" to fistfight with 210lb. rapists.

The reason animal rights activists are more passionate about fur than leather is because it's safer to harrass rich women than bikers...

There are a few guys with us that ran 1/2 ton stuff with no problems. They were locked front and rear also with 35" tires. I chose 1 ton gear because I drive my rig everywhere I go and drivetrain breakage is something I don't want to deal with. Besides, I have only1100$ in both my axles both locked, front crossover ,and rear disced and detroited.

Re: Lock-Right into a front Dana 60

My 3/4 ton D44 performed admirably for a couple years, but when I finally tore up an axle and u-joint I went D60 because if I'm now going to invest in a front locker and cross-over steering, I'd rather do it on a D60.
