Is it ok to use DOT 5.1 brake fluid in a new set up on a 66 C10?

Im redoing the components in my braking system and will have a fresh start. New Master Cylinder, Calipers on the front, cylinders on the rear drums and new lines. I was about to buy DOT 3 and fill er up but Im reading that DOT 5.1 is compatible with DOT 3 and is better. Anyone done this already? Or should I just stick with DOT 3?

5.1 is compatible with 3 and 4, but not 5.

5.1 and 4 both have higher boiling points so if that is something you are after it would be wise to use it. If not, and you don't want to pay the premium, Dot 3 will still work fine.
