Front Crossmember Question

Hi all!,

New to this forum. I've been reading a lot of the posts. What a treasure trove of information. I love it! Obviously, some very experienced, knowledgeable folks here.

Anyway, just bought a 67 C10 SWB fleetside. I purchased a newer front suspension for it out of an 83. Didn't pay enough attention to it. The "brace" on the bottom of the spring pocket on the crossmember has been removed - apparently for air bags or something. My question is, is this ok or a problem? I still have the original crossmember as well but I already re-drilled the frame for the new crossmember and have it hung on the truck. Can I leave it or is that something I need to fix? If I do need to change it, I understand the control arms, etc from the 83 will all bolt up to my original crossmember - yes?

Thanks!
