Not ready yet . . . but a mockup of what it will look like when done. Getting some new tools (dust collector) to help in my machining process, as milling plastic makes it look like a thousand mice took a poop in the garage.

I cut "windows" in the Gen and Oil circles to match the shape of the other gauges then RTV glued ebay (70's Jeep I think) gauges to the back side.

Here is my mini "restoration" - got new gas gauge and new plastic cover. Sanded and resprayed the frame.

I made the aluminum panels myself. The light switch was easily moved under the dash and mounted vertically so it's not visible. I removed the ignition switch since it's not going to stop anyone from stealing these type of trucks anyway. I used real aircraft switch covers painted black with toggle switches in the center. The switches fit it the ashtray & heater control holes.

Want the "red" back in your temp, gen and oil lights? Lens repair tape from your local parts store will work wonders.

After a variety of panels that never really satisfied me, I finally had my son machine up an aluminum panel that fit over the steel back panel giving more of the old original GMC look to it. It's suffered many more changes since inception, but those dash panels have remained the same.

Looks very nice. I have a 64 GMC, and would like to have it look like yours. I'm trying to figure how to get an oil pressure gauge in the mix. Looks great. Good work. Brandon

My speedometer was not working and the oms on my fuel gauge were different than the ones on my new tank and I wanted to add oil, water temp, volts and a tach without cluttering up my dashboard. I had the original gauges and the tach on the column and the extra gauges on a separate panel under the dash and it was all too cluttered for my taste. Here is an old photo of the same setup when it was all black and installed. I made it white to mach my new paint scheme. That is supposed to be white. It looks a little yellow in the photo.
