c10 rear window defrost. Do they make one?

Anybody know if a rear window with the electric defrost is available for a 72 c10? This cold weather made me wonder.

I don't know for sure, but the first electric window defrosts I recall were in the Grand Prix, Eldorado, and maybe Monte Carlo in 69-70. I -highly- doubt they made it trucks in this generation (within 2 years) given truck equipment was usually a good 10 years back of cars.

Odds are your only shot would be the GM accessory bus fan!

Re: c10 rear window defrost. Do they make one?

When auto makers first started putting rear defrosters in cars there were aftermarket stick-on defrosters made. Now that anything that needs one comes with one (do the fancy new trucks even have them?), I don't think those are offered anymore. Trucks don't need them. I've never felt the need. In a case where the window does fog up it's easy enough to wipe it down since it's right there. But, the cab is so small they clear up in no time from the windshield defroster.
If you really feel you need one, and can find one, remember you can't put tint film over it, so you'll pay for what little convenience it gives when the summer sun is beating on the back of your head

Yeah, the newer trucks come with them as an option. My 04 crew cab had it. Not sure on the aftermarket stick on defrost, that was before my time in autoglass, but if its a factory defrost window, you can put film on it, you just can't remove it as it pulls the strips off with it.

Some new trucks have them. My 2012 Tundra has it, my 2008 did not. Its actually very nice to have. I can't see a good reason in a single cab truck, but my giant 4 door Tundra definitely needs it.

I may try this when my truck is done. I understand that its simple to just wipe the fog off. But if its ice covered on the outside it would sure be nice to flip a switch and sell heck with it. Im not too concerned about tinting.

Re: c10 rear window defrost. Do they make one?

You should try packaging and selling "Heck with it". I think there would be a huge market for it. I'll take two!

I figured they probably started putting rear defrosters in trucks now that most, it seems, have car cabs. Heck, I haven't carried a windshield scraper in my truck since I can't remember when. I just start the truck and let the heat do the rest. it's nice and toasty when I hop in my trucks. My back windows rarely frost up since they are vertical. It used to be with a defroster the tint would bubble up. I guess they've changed the material to take the heat. I'm happy with factory tint, myself. Just putting thoughts out there to consider, just in case. but I don't know of any windows made for these trucks w/defrost feature and not so sure about the add-on anymore. But, to me, those would be an eyesore and not worth the trouble.
