Heater Control Valve?

My heater doesn't blow hot air. Someone told me it's my heater control valve. Where is this thing? I followed the heater hoses to the fire wall, and I cannot find it? I went to the auto parts store and looked at one, so I know what it looks like. I'm going to Mammoth next week (Mountains, skiing, Cold). Please help. I don't think it is my thermostat, that doesn't affect the heater, right?
Thanks for any input.

I had the same problem with my 89 burb. The problem with mine was the heater cable had come undone from the lever that controls the flap.If you open the glovebox you can get to it. You can remove the box or with mine I just pulled the door down.On top of the heater box you should be able to see the lever if the cable is still on it might be at the lever on the dash side.

Hope this helps Derreck.

Sombody lied to you about a control valve.

73-91 burbs don't have any valve in the coolant. They use a flap to circulate the air through the heater core.
Pull the glove box off. behind it is the heater box. the flap's linkage is the easiest one on top to get to. The clips are often broken that retain the cable if the heater core is ever replaced. Should be pretty obvious wht the problem is one you get the door off and slide the bottom lever back and forth.

Is it blowing hard from the vents? Or, is the air warm but not blowing? Mine is warm, but not blowing much....

Well, I am in the middle of tearing apart my dashboard, not because of my heater problem, I am replacing the lamps in the instrament cluster area, and I got carried away. I'm painting the bezel silver as descibed at

I did what Grim Reaper told me to do, and the cable still controls the flapper. It seems that the air is warm, but barely blowing. My defroster doesn't blow at all. Maybe I need a new blower??
I noticed that there are two different cables on the heater box. One is controlled by the Hot/Cold lever, and I don't know what the other one is.
Thanks so much for all your help.

I doubt you need a new blower. Some flap is obstructing the flow of the air. From what it sounds like, it sounds like the same problem as I'm having. I'm looking and looking for a problem, but I dont have any manuals telling me whats what and where... I'll let you know if I find anything, but also keep up posted.
