Door lock issue

I have a 1997 K1500 extended cab. I replaced the drivers master switch about a year ago. It worked at first and then stopped working. I have no power lock or unlock from either door . They use to unlock when the ignition key was turned off , I don’t even get that. I bought another new switch, nothing. I can jumper the wires from the harness and both locks will operate. It doesn’t make sense. It’s not a fuse. Could the passengers door switch be bad and not making either door work?

Re: Door lock issue

If I remember correctly, the power runs through the passenger side switch before it hits the drivers side switch. Regardless, when I replaced the passenger side switch, it solved the issue.

Re: Door lock issue

I figured out most of the problem. I found the blown fuse(did not know it was the cigarette lighter fuse). It is 99% fixed. From the drivers side the power locks work fine. When use the passenger side power locks the locks unlock but return to the locked position.

Solenoid?

I had a lazy solenoid. The hotter it got (sunshine) the slower it got. That was obviously the solenoid.

One thing I tell folks is if you have 2 or more of anything and don't know for sure then try switching them.

You could always try switching the solenoids from right to left and see if the problem follows the solenoid.

Just a thought.
