torson bar suspension

I have a 2006 chevy 1500 extended cab with torson bar suspension, I have checked other 2006 trucks they do not have the same front end or the same type of steering. I almost forgot it is two wheel drive. Anybody else have this setup. The rear springs were replaced they are not your regular 1500 springs they were almost $200 more than the regular 1500 springs, the truck sits higher in the front and rear than my buddies truck he also has a 1500. His has a stock suspension???????

Re: torson bar suspension

Do you have a K-member under the engine? If not, I'm thinking maybe your truck is a converted 4WD to 2WD with 2WD hubs and minus the 4WD running gear such as transfer case, etc.

Re: torson bar suspension

My 04 GMC 2wd non HD was coil springs and shocks in the front with pack and pinion.
My 99 Silvy 4wd non HD is torsion bars and keys and has a idler arm, pitman arm setup

Re: torson bar suspension

I expect you have what my '04 has - "Sport suspension" I bought my truck new, it had the option listed on the window sticker and I never gave it much thought till I started trying to buy shocks and they were wrong. I ended up buying shocks for a 4x4 and they fit. In reality I think it is a tahoe suspension. It has a much firmer feel than the standard half ton. I like it a lot, I just wish it had the rack & pinion. Best I can tell this is a rare option.
