03 GMC 8.1 coil packs

Chasing a rabbit! 03 2500 HD 8.1 has 125k on it. The past few years in the winter when the temps change if you ran it a short distance and turned it off it didn't want to start the first few times or would cut off. Doing normal maintence
changed plugs and wires and fuel pressure regulator. Replaced coolant temp sensor and crankshaft positioning sensor. It still has the problem. After it starts I sometimes smell gas. It has sprung no trouble codes. Not sure about the coil packs. When you change or how you know one is weak or going bad.
Thanks

Same here. If you are smelling gas I would recheck the fpr, and do a pressure test to see if you may have injector or check valve leaking down.

Re: 03 GMC 8.1 coil packs

Changed the fuel pressure regulator yesterday. When I pushed the valve on the fuel rail to relieve the pressure it had a ton on it. What was different. When I pulled the old regulator the bowl filled up with gas. I dried it out and it did it again. Put the new one in worked fine yesterday. This morning the same thing. started right up ran for 30 minutes. went inside came back hour later didn't want to start. finally did and I smelled gas. It finally gave me one code for bank one senor one oxygen sensor.. haven't changed it out yet. Cleared the code to see if it would do it again but it has not
