Original paint bronze or copper color metal preserver?

Talking about several trucks that have passed through our hands over the years a couple came to mind that were this particular coot (I don't track the exact)

But of the ones we came accross they were very rust free. My brother almost attributes the possibility of maybe something in that color that helped preserve the metal.

Anyone else notice a similarity?
