Sway bar install after or before?

I am nearing the point of re assembly of my 66. Anything that was bolted together was removed. For the frame and suspension after breaking it all down years ago, parts were sandblasted and repainted. Some I need to just buy replacements for though. But I never had a sway bar on the front end and I am trying to get the right order of assembly down. Once I find a sway bar that will work with a stock height with power steering added I thought that installing it before I put the engine and transmission, cab and panels back on the frame would be easier. But I wasnt sure if it needs to be installed under a full load?

Doesn’t really matter. Get one from a 73-89 3/4 ton, they are much bigger, or you can go aftermarket, they are usually powder coated and all pretty.

It doesn't matter much about the drivetrain being installed. It is a bit easier without the radiator support bolted in place.

I'll check the local part yards around, but I will be so new at it all I can ask is what you typed there. Ill see what they say. Ive read from other posts that 1- 1/4" circumference on the bar is pretty beefy and recommended. Also the types that mount to the control arms are best for the stock heights.

I didnt take many detailed pics of the front end before I did the teardown.

Heres about all I can find

Then a few as I did removal

Then had some parts sand blasted and I painted them

Re: Sway bar install after or before?

If your lowered like mine, look at aftermarket like CPP for the lower sway bar mounts at the frame..
