Re: 15 inch tire and wheel combos only

I still like them looking like they came from the factory. I know, tonneau cover and 73+ wheels. 1972 Chevrolet Trucks brochure has a Cheyenne Super on the cover with full wheel covers and white stripe tires. Every other truck in the brochure has black wall tires. No white letters.

The 70 series tires fill the wheel well up very nicely.

Re: 15 inch tire and wheel combos only

I wanted a white stripe like my truck came with in 1972. The ONLY ones I could find were the Toyo 235/75R15. I had never heard of Toyo and was a little apprehensive. But so far, 2 years later and 3 vacations from Florida to North Carolina mountains, they have been great. Smooth riding, quiet and zero vibration at speeds. After I had them on the truck, a friend of mine who works in the rubber industry, told me Toyo has an excellent reputation for quality in the rubber industry. I paid $110 per tire, including mounting, balancing, valve stems and Nitrogen fill.

Awesome looking pickup. I have a 67 that will look similar when done. Amazing what a simple paint scheme can look like when well done!

^ That's whats crazy about these trucks... they all look different. Your truck looks lower than 3/5.

Re: 15 inch tire and wheel combos only

Mine has 15" wheels... for now. They are 8" wide 6 lug wheels with the original dog dish caps. I don't know enough about these yet to determine if they are factory 8" wheels or if they have been widened to 8". Tires are 275/60r15 and the truck was lowered about 2" by heating the springs (previous owner's handiwork).

Hmmm. That pic looks like it could be used in a chevy truck brochure back in the day doesnt it?
The 8"rims and big tires look good on it

That looks really nice with 70 series on the front and 60 series on the rear. I was thinking the look of the sidewalls would be off a bit when mixing them like that. Excellent combo!

According to a tire size calculator online, there's only 0.3" difference in sidewall height, with the 60 @ 6.5" vs the 70's 6.2".

Pretty handy site: https://www.tacomaworld.com/tirecalc
