68 Interior (Fawn cloth?)

Does anyone know if Fawn Cloth is being reproduced? ...I can't seem to find it anywhere. (For the record, I do have an inquiry out to SMS)

Finally getting around to look the truck over. Noticing what look like silver sunvisors, dash pad and door panels, ...so I decided to remove the '70's vintage seat cover
The interior paint has a light green tint to it (that the lighting in this photo really accentuates). I believe the exterior ("special paint") color was the same, but has faded to almost a fawn/beige.

...and I find what looks Fawn Cloth seat upholstery, somewhat confirming the interior was originally Fawn.

Reference thread with pic of '67 Fawn cloth:

SPID from my '68 ("Special Paint")

Thanks,

Kevin

Re: 68 Interior (Fawn cloth?)

Not that I’m aware of. I’m in the market myself some day.

Does anyone know if SMS also carry the vinyl in fawn for a 68?

Re: 68 Interior (Fawn cloth?)

Just to follow up (and confirm what some already knew/know)

SMS DOES have the Fawn vinyl and cloth material.

They have sent me samples, that once I receive I will post pics.

Per yard: $139 for cloth ; $75 for vinyl.
... I believe you would be looking at about 2 yards to do a seat, ...ballpark $425 for material alone.
As noted a few posts above, price was north of $600 ($695) to purchase the seat upholstery. Done, ready to install.

I did ask SMS, what IF multiple (ie. 4) sets were ordered, any discount? It's not much, but they did say they would do %10 off.

Unless there are other sources to get the fawn cloth seat, they may be the only option.

I really don't want to put that much down for a seat cover, and not that 10% is a big difference, but if there are others out there 'on the fence', maybe we can see if we can coordinate an order.

Kevin

Hello, if also needing/looking for replacement armrest in the OE fawn, we just listed two sets of GM NOS armrest f/s on the parts board (link below) and one of the NOS pairs are fawn in color. Have a look and let us know, Mel

Re: 68 Interior (Fawn cloth?)

First, ...Mel (Thanks again for the heads up ; )

Again, to follow up ... I received samples from SMS today and I'm posting here for others. The FABRIC is just like the original, however the VINYL sample they sent is NOT FAWN (looks to be Ivory). I have responded back to SMS to see if they will send a sample of the Fawn vinyl. I will post once received.

Thanks,

Kevin

You would order the material by the yard (Fabric $139/Yd), and from what I've been told, would need appox. 2yrds to do the seat. However, to your question on product name/number, I will reach out to SMS on that too, so it's 'stored' in this thread ; )

Re: 68 Interior (Fawn cloth?)

While we're on the seat upholstery topic, I noticed another Fawn seat (someone's truck on the board here ; ), ...where the fabric runs full across the seat bottom and back (photo below). The photo I included initially in this thread is has the vinyl down the middle separating the fabric into two areas.
Is this a 67 vs 68 thing? (I suspect so since my '68 is split, where the photo below...a '67 is not)

Ah. Ok so did you just order swatches for year/make/model/color/material?

...I sent a request in to SMS for swatches of Fabric and Vinyl for " Fawn Cloth upholstery for a 1968 C20 Chevrolet Pickup".
Since I had previously contacted them for '68 50th seat upholstery, I noted the Fawn 'cloth' (they call it "Fabric) has the same 'pattern' of the 50th seat (which it does), but just in a 'silvery/fawn' color.
(Not that it matters, but I think that's why they sent the Ivory vinyl with my request for the Fawn...)

Re: 68 Interior (Fawn cloth?)

Recalling SMS sent me the 50th Ivory vinyl sample by mistake, ...I just got the 'Fawn' vinyl sample from them. Also shown are some (ACC) Carpet samples, see photo below.
Both the SMS FAWN vinyl and fabric look really good.

http://imageevent.com/hvclassics/aut...=0&w=4&s=0&z=2
(FYI, ...while viewing the photo in the above link, if you click on "original" just below the photo, it enlarges photo for better detail)

I did reply back to SMS to see if they can provide item/part #'s associated with these samples, I'll post if/when I get those.

CARPET:
I've seen the '"FAWN" carpet listed as "19 - Fawn/Sandlewood", ...or "19 - Fawn", etc. The net (as I understand it) is that "19" is the color, and in this case that is ACC's "FAWN" color. Often there may be another # preceeding that 19, ...for example "519". My understanding is that the first # indicates the carpet 'style'. Where "5" would indicate 80/20 loop. SO, if you're looking to get Fawn Carpet in 80/20 loop, ..."519" would be the number.
I do not know if all vendors follow the same, but I thought to add here for reference.

PRICING:
I'm curious what others have seen, but I'm seeing carpet prices all over the map. Noting I am looking at comparative ACC carpet from various vendors with and/or without mass backing. (I will be going with mass backing)

Does this mean SMS will make the seat covers? A "set (front/rear)," does that mean front and back seats as if you have a Suburban or car?

Re: 68 Interior (Fawn cloth?)

Yes they will make them for you but be prepared for a long wait. I am currently having them make me some 68 buddy seat covers and I'm about 15 months waiting. The communication is slow too but it's par for the course for them. I've had them do work for me a few times and their product is always very good. But the wait is long.

Order the 19 Fawn/Sandalwood from Rock Auto. By far the cheapest source for ACC carpet in my research. If additional carpet is needed, Stock Interiors has the same exact Fawn carpet but their code is 519 Fawn and they sell it by the yard. I just went thru all this in the past few weeks.

Thanks for the heads up on Rock Auto, The carpet was about $20 cheaper, as well, shipping was almost $25 cheaper (than Stock Interiors), close to a $50 savings.
