Check out THIS SPID(!) Cheyenne Super Custom Camper for sale on CL

NICE! Never saw a SPID with gaps - they almost look like where the wheel/tire size callouts would be, but who knows. Anyway, a Cheyenne Super 20 Custom Camper with marker lamps. Needs a few very minor things (like door panels and a few other smallies), but it's darn nice. Priced pretty fair considering condition, trim level, and loaded SPID. Enjoy (not mine): http://nwga.craigslist.org/cto/5355705259.html

Good point - agree those are "not quite right", and also not original - was born with camper mirrors per the SPID. Too bad they got removed at some point. Along with the aux tank

Has some interesting strangeness on the SPID, like the "REAR AXLE" RPO... Makes one want to say "no kidding" or "I hope so"... Also, the parchment trim code - would have assumed it should have been "parchment custom cloth" or something like that. It's also one of weird Cheyenne Super YE9 AND Cheyenne Z84 RPO'ed trucks. Interesting stuff.

That is nice. I don't think I've seen both Z84 and YE9 on the same truck before. Maybe the SPID was created. I have also never seen a code w/o description

Re: Check out THIS SPID(!) Cheyenne Super Custom Camper for sale on CL

Although it's not exactly logical, YE9 and Z84 did coexist on some SPIDs. Can't explain the gaps though... The wear and peeling on the corners in post 1 look very original to me. Anyway, here are some other Z84+YE9 SPID examples.

Re: Check out THIS SPID(!) Cheyenne Super Custom Camper for sale on CL

SPID looks original, correct font and has aged appropriately, can't explain the gaps or lack of call outs though , hopefully someone (Bruceman, SSTim, Keith Seymore ) will have an explanation.

Re: Check out THIS SPID(!) Cheyenne Super Custom Camper for sale on CL

It is certainly an odd SPID. I realize it has an aged look to it. But, we were making SPIDs in the '80s and the correct font is possible. Ask Gary Terry, a.k.a Cheyenne Superman. Not saying it is, but it could be 25 or more years old.

I have never known of a '72 truck showing double codes. But I haven't seen them all. What's most odd to me is I don't see it as having a gap, more like RPOs with descriptions missing. I can't read the RPOs where the blanks are. If someone wants to list them here I could look them up. There are a lot of inaccuracies in the listing and it would lead you to believe the truck only has 18k on it. They don't say one way or the other on restored/unrestored/original. They leave that for the buyer to ask or believe what they want. Super duper nice truck, though. Shame about the mirrors on that paint job

Never seen a SPID that "full" 18000 miles is questionable

There was a link in the Craigslist ad to more pictures. Here is a better one of the SPID and the link; https://drive.google.com/folderview?...Wc&usp=sharing

I think that this seller may be a flipper. He lists the camper mirrors in the ad and they've obviously be switched out. Odometer has probably rolled once.

Re: Check out THIS SPID(!) Cheyenne Super Custom Camper for sale on CL

SPID looks correct to me and has a typical format. Being a very early 72 at Flint assembly they were changing from alpha to numercial suffix codes. As a result there were a number of SPIDs I have seen that had blank descriptions and obviously incorrect suffix codes, as in every line item ended in 10.

Many came through with standard build items listed as options like this one. This example has engine emission, rear axle, spring callouts, GVW plate and more listed. Basically they were coded more like a build/broadcast sheet than a correct SPID reflecting only options.

The optional V43 rear step bumper and P10 in bed spare tire carrier are clear without description. If you look at the tire codes there are six representing front, rear and spare selections. However they repeated the first set of three with a second set carrying both 1/ and 2/ suffix codes. Understandable and probably program placeholder codes that were not intended to be printed on the SPIDs.

As far as the YE9 and Z84 it is fairly common to see both on a SPID with late 71 or early 72 build.

Mirrors and mileage.... probably the two most misrepresented items on any "original" truck. :-)

I am surprised this SPID doesn't have an order number on it. Seems like a special order truck to me given the options and special paint.

btw Tim, your PM box is full

Really nice and a good price!

I've seen others move the mirrors higher to help with visibility, we all know the stock passenger mirror position stinks. To each ...
