Working on the firewall...filling in every hole (all wiring will run through the tunnel), patching some more cancer, and filling in where we had to clearance more for the taller motor.

Re: Our "What are we going to do?" 66 Suburban Build

Windshield frame is in nearly perfect shape...got lucky there. The side windows...not so much, heavy rust in the lower channels. We're going to go with solid side glass there.
Welding on the firewall is pretty much done...a bit of smoothing and paint and we should be done there.

Yep, 4 sliders. The lower channels are far enough gone though that the windows would fall down a bit in areas when they were slid open.

Re: Our "What are we going to do?" 66 Suburban Build

Test fit the body on the chassis today...had to trim almost 3/4" off the inner rear wheel openings to fit the tires.

They're close to pretty much everything, but don't touch anything!

Re: Our "What are we going to do?" 66 Suburban Build

My son worked on fitting a tall hump cover in place of the short this evening...moving the engine back had the tranny crowding the body. He's got it really close, it won't take much more to get it welded in.

Yeah coping tube can be a PITA.

Is the N20 plumbing going to clear the cowl of the 'burb? Any WAG what the power will be?

Re: Our "What are we going to do?" 66 Suburban Build

Plumbing is going to be really close to the cowl...we may have to tweak the lines up to clear.

We're probably going to end up in the 700-750 range, but I'm hoping for a bit more. I want to keep it pump gas friendly and I bet we run out of octane before boost. 200 shot on top of that...
