Re: Hussey's 1949 AD on an S10 Frame

Hussey, oh I feel you man. I was in a mad rush to get stuff in primer and paint bf winter this year. Its still holding me back. I'm debating on taking my frame to the blasters and have them blast and epoxy it as I'll be ready for that bf warm weather comes. Its always something. Just gotta jump around and work on stuff that isn't money related or heat related!!! Let me know if you got any questions, I got another build going and more for for the future, still some more dime swaps and some OG frame builds to come.

Re: Hussey's 1949 AD on an S10 Frame

Since I plan to put a gas tank behind the rear axle, how low can the cab be mounted above the S10 frame? Are there other considerations up front with mounting the cab lower than the 3 inches or so shown here? I am not really concerned with a shallow box in the back to make up for the lower stance.

Thanks

I am not Hussey, but: you need to be aware that lowering the cab beyond a certain point on the S10 frame just creates more work for yourself. you will need a big trans tunnel and a driveshaft tunnel, a raised bed floor, and you wont have a lot of room for a radiator up front. using just drop spindles and springs with the mounts Hussey designed will drag rockers, you dont even need a notch.

there is a local builder who just bolts the cab to the s10 frame. he doesnt put any lowering parts on it and it is literally 4 inches off the ground. the frame horns are at about the 3rd grille bar up and the radiator is leaned way back to fit.

Re: Hussey's 1949 AD on an S10 Frame

Thanks for the info. That's exactly what I wanted to know. With my engine and trans not in yet, the top of the cab seems a bit high with 4x4 spacing. The weight should help and adding the running boards I imagine will create a lower look.

Much appreciated and thanks for the quick response.
