2/4 drop and still use as a truck?

Will I still be able to use my truck as a truck if I lower it 2/4?

I pull a 4000 pound boat and carry medium loads from time to time.

My truck has factory "helper springs"...looks like with a 4 inch rear drop I would have to remove them?

What are your experiences?

Mine is a 72 C-10 SWB Fleetside.

Re: 2/4 drop and still use as a truck?

Well this isn't a 67-72 but its lowered 5/8 and I use it as a truck every day. I don't tow with it but I could if I added airbags. I haul dirt bikes around every weekend and go up logging roads and have never had clearance issues. Towing and hauling has nothing to do with ride height. Just depends HOW you lower it that's all.

Re: 2/4 drop and still use as a truck?

Thanks for the replies.

I don't have the funds to "airbag" my truck, so how do I do it static and still have a usable truck?

Helper bags are your best option

Re: 2/4 drop and still use as a truck?

i used spindles and springs in the rear an i could still jump in the truck and tow a heavily loaded trailer and a full box over a thousand miles to swapmeets without missing a beat

Thanks, that thread answered many of my questions.

Using 3/4 ton lowering springs in the rear sounds like the ticket.

Here are some great shots of a truck working hard with an ECE drop kit. Work em if ya got em, low or stock
