Alot of you may already know about this but I just came across it today. Supposedly if you take a blower motor and fan for a 94 Chevy truck and put it in a square with air that it blows alot more air. Somebody on FB was saying something about it then posted a link. So here it is. Something to look into.

Replacing your old blower motor with a new stock one will make a big difference.I just did this in my crew.Also on my crew,most of the a/c stuff is long gone,so I pulled the evaporator core out of the heater-a/c box when I was replacing the heater cire& this really helped with air flow too.

nice mine has been getting weaker and weaker I guess I know what I am going to replace it with.

I guess it is supposed to spin alot faster than what ours call for.

It's the same size motor. If you old one is still good, you can just lube the bearings and it'll run just like the new ones.

check the connections too,try adding a ground wire see if it gets better
take the blower out,clean out the "hampster wheel" mice may even have used it's space for nesting

Why yes I did. I looked on O'reillys site for a motor for an 85 and one for 94. They were two different part numbers. They were not AC parts brand though.

We had a similar thread here a while back on the same thing. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=593977 I had made the bold but cryptic statement that the perceived improvement was merely a result of "new" being better condition than the "old" fan it was replacing.

Has anyone thought about a voltage stepper for the high setting? That's what I'm looking into. Since the connectors appear to be simple spade connectors, something could be made plug-and-play without hacking the harness even.

I installed a new blower motor for a '94 into my '80 this summer as well, and I took advantage of an opportunity to take some measurements with a calibrated anemometer before and after the upgrade. I reported my results in this thread: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=594506

Basically it was a bit of a disappointment in the sense that the increase in flow was barely perceptible, but it was measurable. Given the very low cost of a new blower motor I decided it was definitely worth the money spent. For $20 dollars or so I realized nearly a nearly 15% improvement in air flow.

Perhaps my blower had been replaced years ago, and if it had been the original stock blower from 35 years ago I'd have seen a much greater improvement. I'd say if a person has any doubts about their blower, just plunk down the money and see if things get better. But unless you have a way to measure the difference, it is very possible you won't be able to tell.

I'm VERY interested to hear more about this idea. Given the relatively low cost of the blowers and how easily they can be replaced, even if a voltage increase significantly decreases the useful life of the motor it might be worth the tradeoff.

But isn't the blower already getting maximum system voltage when the fan is set to HIGH? How would you increase the voltage even further?
